Summary

Bunbury College of Chantry priests was founded in 1386/87 by Sir Hugh Calverley. It was dissolved in 1548. The moat and building foundations were visible in the mid 19the century but no trace can be seen now.

Full Description

Bunbury College of Chantry priests, consisted of a warden and six fellows, founded 1386/87 by Sir Hugh Calverley. Dissolved in 1548. Moat and building foundations reported by Ayrton in mid C19, 200 yds north-west of church. Not shown on Tithe Award but college placenames are recorded. No trace of moat now visible (1).
