Full Description

Peckforton is believed to be mentioned in the Domesday Book as Pevretone. The survey mentions land for two ploughs, one villein with one plough and one hide paying geld. It's value had increased from 8s to 20s.

Possible deserted or shrunken medieval village at Peckforton, mention[ed] in Domesday Book 1086 [NG, 20/01/1981].

The Domesday Book records that Peckforton was included in the grant of lands to Robert Fitz-Hugh, the Norman baron of Malpas. Documentary references to the Manor of Peckforton continue throughout the medieval and post medieval periods, into the nineteenth century.
