Summary

Stapeley Hall was once a moated manor house, though little of this now survives. It was mentioned as early as 1228. The house was later mantioned as the home of the Rope family in c.1625.

Full Description

The now filled and previously badly mutilated moated manor house of Stapeley Hall. Mentioned as early as c.1228 as a moated messuage and described as a fair house and demesne home of the Rope family in c.1625 (1).
