Monument record 2075 - Moated site in Coole Pilate

Please read our .

Summary

A shallow water-filled depression between 7 and 12m wide. Shown as a moat on 19th century tithe map. A site visit in the 1960's lead to the suggestion it was a marl pit but it seems clear that this is the remains of a moated site.
