Full Description
Shallow water-filled depression, average 0.7m deep and 7.0-12.0m wide. No trace of connecting arm visible on ground or air photo. Claimed as a moat, but ditch not continuous and no raised platform. Thought to be a marl pit (1).
The Cheshire tithe map for Coole Pilate of 1841 describes this area of water as a "Moat in Bell Rough"(2)
It seems clear that this is the remains of a moated site.(3)
