Monument record 329 - Rawhead Farm

Please read our .

Summary

Possible neolithic / Bronze Age settlement identified from cropmarks during a drought. Timber slots for circular and rectangular features were noted. Later aerial photographs have suggested a possible banjo enclosure (so called because of the shape of a circular enclosure accessed by a narrow enclosed route). Cropmarks are visible changes in the growth of vegetation that may indicate a buried feature. These distinctions can usually only be identified from Aerial Photographs.
