Summary

A watching brief on a 2m deep shaft on the west bank of the River Weaver produced an area of ash and charcoal with some briquetage (salt making debris).

Full Description

The construction of a 2m deep shaft on the west bank of the River Weaver was watched. Passed through riverine clays, but an area of ash and charcoal with some briquetage was found in south-west quadrant. Probably relates to activity on site of Wood Street excavations (1).
