Full Description
First mentioned by Foote Gower in the 1770s in reporting finds of Roman lamps and ampullae in clearing away fire debris in the area of the Castle. Refers to tradition of a Roman castrum. Watkin states that this is junction of four Roman Roads (1) & (2). Evidence for Roman Nantwich is reviewed by Petch (3).
