A late seventeenth century timber framed cottage. Brick nogged timber-frame and stone with thatched roof. Single storey and attic but with single storey stone section (north) forming a ‘T’ shaped plan. Two window bays. Sixteen panels, in irregularly spaced small framing. Sandstone plinth. Curved gable tie beam. One small metal leaded casement. Other windows are Tollemache-style cast-iron lattice casements inserted into frame panels. A small byre is at the west end of the cottage under the same roof as the cottage. Brown brick chimney stacks. Interior: Inglenook beam. Slightly bevelled ceiling beams and exposed ceiling joists. Old ledged and battened doors. Old cottage staircase with winders. Graded II* for lack of alteration to the interior, including the byre.
