Find Spot record 216 - Neolithic stone axe in Moston

Flaked, brown-yellow flint axe, some polishing of cutting edge, in private possession, illustrated (1). Found during ploughing at depth of 23cm (2) & (3). A neolithic flint axe published in VCH (see Source) as coming from Elton (VCH 1, 55, fig 7) is indicated by the owner to have come from SJ 7302 5808, although the VCH NGR may be more reliable. L.16.3cm, W 5.8cm; brown-yellow flint - polish surface restricted to cutting edge (4).
