Full Description
Cast bronze mount found in fields near Nantwich. Has interlace decoration with yellow enamel in the panels. Consists of two triangles joined at their apexes with perforated projections to fix to cloth or leather backing. Probably horse harness. Laings give a range of parallels and conclude it to be C8 or early C9 in date. Very rare example of metalwork of this date for Cheshire (1). In private ownership (2).
