Full Description
An area of poorly preserved ridge and furrow was identified on aerial photographs and on the ground. The ridges show a slight fanning out, a type thought to date from the late 16th to the 18th centuries. A depression to the south west is shown as a pond on the map of 1839 (1). The Eastern edge of the ridge and furrow is bounded by a linear hollow approx 0.7m deepwhich heads for the farm buildings. This track is shown as the main approach to the hall on the 1839 tithe map but must have gone out of use shortly after, as the OS 1st edition 1" map (1842) shows the main drive on it's present alignment (2).
