Summary

Nothing is known about a street furnace in Odd Rode apart from its conversion to a plating forge in 1701/2. A light concentration of slag has been found and it is suggested that the forge was replaced by Forge Mill.

Full Description

Nothing is known about a street furnace in Odd Rode apart from its conversion to a plating forge in 1701/2. A recent site visit states the forge is still standing, at the above NGR (3), although the OS Record Card states that there was no trace of the forge. Light concentration of slag found at SJ 8070 5865 (1). Bott says the forge was replaced by Forge Mill (4).
