Summary

When constructing ARP shelters in Grosvenor Park in 1939 a large quantity of Roman pottery was found, including Samian from the Domitianic-Hadrianic period (AD 81 - 138). A lead lamp holder was also discovered.

Full Description

Finds from Grosvenor Park include a lead lampholder (1) and Roman pottery, including Samian ware of the Domitianic-Hadrianic period, found in 1939 on the east part of the park during the construction of ARP shelters (2). The F H Williams collection included a large pot found in laying out the park c1867 (3).
