Full Description
Collection of Roman objects found on 5th & 6th February 1994 with a metal detector. Two coins, an as of Claudius (very corroded, so impossible to say if genuine or contemporary forgery), and a sestertius of Hadrian (fairly worn, so loss date could be AD 150 onwards). Three lead weights, two marked with II and IIII and are 2nd and 4th unciae, the third is marked with H and W or M (? possibly medieval). Also a pierced lead loom weight with raised edge and 3 raised dots, which is probably medieval, and a lead plumb bob, c.34mm long, which is undated. The finds were recovered from a depth of 45-60mm, in a field in which top soil had been removed prior to construction work (1 & 2).
