Full Description
Congleton's market cross originally stood opposite the old town hall (CSMR:164/0/1). A new cross was erected in 1707 and was removed in 1772. The remains of 2 or 3 crosses were brought together and preserved in the grounds of the Parsonage, Buglawton. It consisted of parts of two or three crosses including part of a cross recorded as being erected in c.1500. Probably removed to present site in Congleton Park c. 1902 (CSMR:164/0/16) (1)
