Summary

Grade II listed late 17th century farmhouse. The interior has an exposed full cruck. A cruck is a beam used in timber framing. Two curved timbers that are cut from the same tree are used to support a roof from floor to apex.

Manor Farmhouse, Knutsford Road. Late 17th century. Red brickwork facade, gables and rear coursed stucco. Roof formerly covered with stone slates, now blue tiles at the front and concrete tiles at the rear. Interior: exposed full cruck with its blades flanking an inglenook. Heavy chamfered beams, some exposed ceiling joists. Full architectural description.

An archaeological building record was produced in 2003 for Manor Farmhouse, Cranage, in advance of proposed building restoration work. The farmhouse is Grade II listed and was occupied until early 2003. At the time of recording, it had been stripped of internal plaster finished to reveal the underlying fabric. The recording compriseed floor plans and cross-sections through the building. There are two adjacent barns located to the south, one of which is also Grade II listed.
