Full Description
In Cranage is Hermitage or Ermitage, probably the site of a hermits cell. It was given to John of Jerusalem at the time of Henry III (1). Local tradition places the site of the cell at an early 18th century building called Hermitage (2). A local family took its name from a hermitage in Cranage (3).
