omplete excavation in 1984 by David Wilson. No trace of the mound was visible nor was it traced archaeologically. It was probably deliberately destroyed in the late 19th century. However a circle of sand was visible after ploughing. 1 unurned cremation was recovered & evidence of an earlier dig, possibly in the 19th century. A radiocarbon date of 3520 +/- 90 bp (HAR 6779) was derived from charcoal associated with the cremation. Pottery of at least 7 fabrics was recovered & some flint, but nothing diagnostic

In 1984 an excavaton was mounted at Pecklow to see if it was possible to recover any remains of a burial mound, that according to anecdotal evidence had been removed at some time in the 19th century. A roughly circular sandy area was noticed after ploughing which seemed likely to represent the base of the barrow. Excavation trenches found that little remained of the barrow but a concentration of potsherds and calcined bone was found. Further trenches found a small undamaged cremation. Charcaol from which gave a radio carbon date of b.p 3520
+/-90 (1520bc) (HAR.6779). Pottery fragments represent an accessory vessel with incised decoration, 4 collared urns, a Baggy pot and a base pot sherd (See the report for more details of the pottery vessel fragments found )
