Summary

A document of 1354 mentions the "the peel and the mote of Great Moreton". Although the precise location of the possible moat and peel tower are unknown, they may have been in close proximity to the mill, mill pond and seventeenth century hall.

A document of 1354 mentions the "the peel and the mote of Great Moreton".

Although the precise location of the possible moat and peel tower are unknown, it's not unreasonable to suggest that it may have been in close proximity to the mill (CHER 131/4/1), mill pond (CHER 131/4/2) and seventeenth century hall (CHER 131/2/1), all of which are depicted on the 1838 tithe map for the township (see 3).
