Summary

A circular lead disc 300mm in diameter and 10-12mm thick was found on the playing fields on the west side of Hassall Road opposite the junction with Cross Lane. On one side is a crudely impressed face perhaps enclosed within a sunburst. The standard of workmanship is poor and the impression is not complete. No parallel has been found, but the piece could be medieval or even later. Its exact function is unknown.
