Find Spot record 1115 - Bronze Age Spearhead from Betchton

A late Bronze Age socketed spearhead was found at Betchton. It is 4.5ins long (1). Illustrated by Varley & Jackson (2). Some confusion over the provenance of this object as Shone reports that it was found in a gravel pit at Bechton near Warrington & was exhibited by William Beamont at a meeting of the Society of Antiquaries on Jan 30th 1873 (3). However it is probably from Betchton, Congleton (4). Spearhead now in Warrington Museum (5).
