Full Description
<1> County Historic Environment Record, 1973-1985, Cheshire Archaeological Bulletin, Issue 10, p.54, Williams S R, 1985 (Journal/Periodical). SCH565.
A silted up ditch is visible as a slight earthwork, parallel to and 60m south of the southern arm of the moat of Little Moreton Hall. S R Williams believes it to be a second moat at the site.

D Wilson, as a result of field survey, believes it to be a mill leat for a mill known from documents at this site.

Burdett's map of 1777 shows two mills in the Moreton area, but no evidence has been traced.
