Excavation at this site by Bestwick in 1964-9 revealed evidence of timber buildings, a folding camp stool and 2nd century pottery.

Full Description

Site H, adjacent to 22 King Street. Excavated in 1969 (1). Evidence of 2nd century timber buildings on an E-W alignment. In a beam slot were the remains of a Roman folding camp stool made from bronze, iron and wood, and decorated by turned bronze spacers (2). Bestwick gives grid ref. SJ 7035 6670 (2), but this puts Site H to the west of King Street and No.22 is on the east.
