Summary

The Lower or Bridge Chapel stood on the north side of the town bridge at the corner of Mill Green. It was still in use in 1549, but by 17th century had became a municipal storehouse. It was let to bell founders in 1630 and later became a workhouse before being demolished in 1814. The Town bridge itself was stone built and first recorded in 1407 when it was repaired. It was replaced in 1784.

Full Description

The Lower or Bridge Chapel stood on the north side of the town bridge at the corner of Mill Green. Still in use in 1549. By C17 became a municipal storehouse. Let to bell founders in 1630 and later a workhouse. Demolished 1814. Town bridge was in stone and first recorded in 1407 when repaired. Replaced in 1784 (1).
