Summary
Documentary evidence records repairs to the Moothall in the mid 15th century but by 1476 this building had been replaced by a two storey building with shops and a prison at road level and the town hall above.

Full Description
The Moothall can be equated with the late C16 commonhall and late C17 guildhall near the market, which is now the site of the present Town Hall of 1864. By 1476 the Moothall had five shops and a prison at street level and the town hall above (1).
