Full Description

A pilgrim's flask in grey patinated lead. Surviving maximun length is 43mm x 31mm across the body. One face has an embossed crown against a field of finely embossed reticulation. The other face has an unidentifiable motif within an embossed circle against a similar reticulated field. The base of the neck, the greater part of which is missing, has 2 parallel lines against the upper of which the reticulated field finishes. The slight remains of 2 handles or lugs are visible on each side. The crown shown on one face is probably the Virgin's crown and the flask is possibly from the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. It is badly damaged (1).
