Full Description
Excavations at the Magistrates Court site on the south side of Cuppin St. in 1986 revealed a cultivated soil horizon between Roman and medieval deposits (3, 4). Within this horizon were a series of seemingly short-lived features, identified as pits and two possible post holes, and one of these features contained a fragments of a stone silver ingot mould and an amount of charcoal (3). Note that nearby, a hoard of Saxon period silver coins was found in 1950 (CHER 9013/14). No other information on the nature of this site, or the type of structure that is suggested by the presence of these features, is available.
