Full Description

Excavations at 12 Watergate St. between 1984 and 1987 did not reveal any Saxon structures as the excavators had expected, probably due to the destruction caused by later features. A large fragment of Saxon Chester ware, however, was picked up out of the soil during the machine-stripping of the back yard area (1).
