Summary

Mesolithic flint blades and cores found on the borders of Bache Pool. They date to the Mesolithic or pygmy flint implements, including a micro-graver and a double-notched core. Bache Pool now filled in and grass covered.

Full Description

Flint blades & cores found by W Shone in 1892 on the borders of Bache Pool (1). Mesolithic or pygmy flint implements, including a micro- graver & a double-notched core (2) & (3). Finds in the Grosvenor consist of a microlith with possible traces of use on one edge. It is chipped on both sides near the bulb end. Abrupt termination at distal end due either to faulty striking or damage in use. Possibly calcined. Also in the Grosvenor is a chert microlithic core with a distinct striking platform & evidence of microlithic blades & flakes removed from it (1). Bache Pool now filled in & grass covered (4).
