Full Description
A group of medieval pottery and ironwork was discovered in a small rock-cut pit during the landscaping of ground adjoining Rose Farm in July 1977. The pit was emptied and the finds brought to the Grosvenor Museum for identification. The finds date to the 14th century and comprise part of a pottery curfew or firecover, fragments of 2 jugs, 2 hook ended iron tools, a large wedge shaped iron timber pin & scraps of rivetted iron mounting or banding. Finds retained by the owner, Mrs Wadham (1).
