Full Description
During the excavation of trenches for gas mains for what were then newly constructed Chester Corporation Estate Houses along Appleyards Lane in 1930, an assemblage of abraded Roman pottery was found at a location c 55m east of Eaton Rd (1). Five vessels belonging to the latter half of second century were found, including two Samian ware bowls of Form 37 type and a two-handled storage jar sometimes referred to as a honey-pot (1).
