The farmhouse is…located within the historic orchard plot to the east of the farmstead. This building is evident from the 1849 mapping (see 3) where it had a square footprint with an extension to the west. The Tithe mapping of 1840 (see 2) showed a larger building located further south to the roadside which is likely to have been the original farmhouse. By the 1894 (see 4) mapping the building has an eastern oriented L-shape footprint which remains constant until the 1970s mapping when it appears enlarged, undergoing a further alteration by the 2021 mapping. It was not possible to access the building for a further visual inspection, but from aerial photography, the building appears to be brick built with a slate roof and of two storeys with dormer attic windows. There appear to be further twentieth century extensions.
The significance of the asset derives principally from the date of its construction in the middle part of the nineteenth century, from which the historic fabric derives historical and architectural special interest.
The building is set within a roughly rectangular plot, with a number of barn structures dating from the early and later nineteenth century and a small roadside cottage which is present on the 1840 tithe mapping, raised from a rectangular plan over two storeys and likely constructed in Flemish bond brick to its frontage, although this is now rendered. The return facade to the east is painted brick in English Garden Wall bond, and the building appears to have stone quoins. It is possible that similar detailing exists to the Farmhouse building. The farmstead, cottage and historic plot endow the asset with illustrative and architectural value in terms of the understanding of nineteenth-century farmsteads.
