Milepost, probably early nineteenth century, cast iron. Cylindrical post carries curved plate inscribed BRERETON 1 MILE; CHURCH LAWTON 7 1/2; NEWCASTLE 14. Mileages to Holmes Chapel, Knutsford, Warrington and Liverpool are broken off. W H SMITH AND CO: MAKER: WHITCHURCH in oval pattern on post. A turnpike milepost.
