Summary

Ditches which correspond to the northern, eastern, and western boundaries of the enclosure are clearly visible on a LIDAR survey of this area. The 1845 tithe map depicts a square enclosure at this location subdivided into three parts and containing two buildings. The plot is described as house, gardens, yards, and buildings. In addition to the earthworks, subsurface archaeological remains associated with buildings may also survive.

Full Description

This map depicts a sub-square enclosure to the north-east of Crewe Hill House. The enclosure is divided into three parts. The northern part comprises two equal subdivisions, each being one quarter of the enclosure. The southern part comprises one subdivision comprising one half of the enclosure. This part contains two buildings. The plot is described as house, gardens, yards, buildings etc and is owned and occupied by Roger Harry Barnston who owns and occupies Crewe Hill House.

Negative earthworks (ditches) which correspond to the northern, eastern, and western boundaries of the enclosure are clearly visible on this survey. A further boundary-like feature is visible on the western side of the enclosure.
