"When Warrington Borough Council bought neighbouring Walton Hall and estate in 1941, the walled gardens continued to be used to provide fresh food for local hospitals, and privet for the new housing estates of Warrington."

"The interior of the walled garden has been transformed over the years since Warrington Council took over its care in 1941 and none of the conservatories remains. However, it is possible to see the site of the large camellia conservatory in the NW corner of the garden where the walls are still white. On the west wall there is a bricked-up entrance into the garden from the side of the former mansion. Some of the fruit trees on the south-facing side of the north wall appear to be very old.The old Fives Court is in the SE corner of the walled garden."
