Garden originally designed in 1860 by Edward Kemp, one of the foremost professional landscape designers of the Victorian period and published in Kemp‘s book of 1864 and thus recorded as an example of one of his designs. Description of the gardens with plans.
The dimensions of the garden appear to be unchanged from the original plan in Kemp’s book with the flower beds and kitchen garden intact. Additional land to the north and outwith Kemp’s plan
forms a ‘far garden‘ where a tennis court and an arboretum have been established.
