The house is a good example of a suburban villa of the time. Additions to the house made in 1860 when the garden was laid out. Described by Kemp in 1864 as having stables, other outbuildings, manure pit and pigstys. 2017 research report notes "Outbuildings, stables, pig stye etc are extant but modified for modern use"

On the tithe map of 1839, the land that was to become Foxdale is described as ‘Garden Croft’. No buildings shown
