Monument record 8312/2/3 - Roman wall to the north of Princess Street, west range of courtyard building, further evidence

Further evidence for the substantial courtyard building occupying Insula XVI in the centre of the fortress (see CHER 8312) was recorded in 2020-1 during groundworks undertaken during the Northgate redevelopment on the north side of Princess Street. A north-south aligned sandstone wall (feature 434), which was traced for some 5.5m, coincides approximately with the line of the western-most wall of the west range of the courtyard building (see CHER 8312/2/1-2; OAN Building 807).
