A peat layer, thought to be of prehistoric date, was recorded in three archaeological trenches in 2022 at a site to the east of Rose-Trees Farm. The upper surface of the peat layer was found around 0.35 m below the modern ground surface within trenches 4, 5 and 6. The deposit comprised a mid or dark orangey-brown, sandy peat with high organic content and was between 0.05 and 0.30 m thick. Environmental samples were taken for assessment.
