Full Description
<1> Sandstone Ridge Trust, 2022, Site Recording Form - Beneath the Ridge Project, Lion and Lamb Cave, Bolesworth Castle (Unpublished Report). SCH9355.
Described by Bawn & Barbour as follows - "The walks up to The Rock above the Castle were probably laid out at the same time as this work on the lake [in 1770s by Robert Mylne]. Towards the top is a cave with a lion and lamb carved into the sandstone inside, with a flight of sandstone steps leading up to an adjacent viewing platform with a spectacular view...".
