Archaeological recording undertaken in 2021-2022 during groundworks for a new build retail store recorded a series of walls of former cellars of post medieval date fronting onto at 87–89 Foregate Street, Chester. A roughly east/west-aligned brick wall (218) connected to four north/south-aligned brick walls (216, 220, 224, 225), all of which were connected to east/west-aligned brick wall (219) at their northern ends. Between walls 224 and 225 was a brick floor layer (223).
