c.2.5 kilometres to the north-west are three incidences (adjacent to the Swill Brook) of the field name wall field from which two Romano-British salt pans (and a further pan in the vicinity) have been recovered. It is possible that the brook, which lies to the south-west of plot 96, was a focus for salt making during this period.
