Full Description
<1> Cheshire Gardens Trust, 2015 - 2021, Cheshire Gardens Trust Research and Recording Chester City Reports, Boughton Hall, 2015 (Unpublished Report). SCH9313.
Survival: gardens, poor, only trees along the western and southern boundaries remain. Development east and north of the hall on the ornamental grounds/2 small paddocks and walled garden.
Previous form: c.1849 tithe map smaller hall, stables north east of it and barn, yard and croft south west. By 1875 OS map ornamental grounds surrounded by mixed woodland belts, stables extended and walled garden with glasshouses to north.
Current form: much altered with large residential blocks, but retention of the mature tree/woodland belts along the boundaries with Filkins Lane and Christleton Road/houses.
