Cast Iron Marker post reported in the ground just south of a footbridge at Hall Green quite close to the locks which connect the Trent and Mersey with the Macclesfield Canal. The Bleeding Wolf public house is close by. Marked C.C Ry.

The lettering on the plaque is "G C Ry". The Great Central Railway owned the Canal between 1897 and 1923, when it belonged to the LNER until nationalisation in 1947.
Additional photos provided by the Friends of the Great Central Main Line Trust of a similar plaque in their possession and kept at Loughborough Station, before and after painting. Photos indicate how deep the marker is sunk into the ground
