Research into the landscape and gardens at Poole Hall identified an early 17th century estate map which shows a watermill and bridge in this location.
<2> Massey family of Whitepool records, 1601, A plan or mapp of my lands in poole, DMW/6/50 (Maps and Plans). SCH9309.
Map shows a watermill with a bridge marked to the right in an area of wide road in this location.
