The brick foundations of a building which corresponds with one depicted on the 1898 Ordnance Survey map were excavated in 2022. It comprised two equally sized rooms each with an individual entrance, possibly a latrine. The 1842 Tithe Apportionment lists a “School House and Yard” adjacent to the Star Inn and this building would have been situated in the yard area. The building has been demolished by the time of the 1910 Ordnance Survey Map.
