Full Description

<1> Green Sky Architecture, 2021, Level II Building Recording: 80 Townfield Lane, Barnton, CW8 4LJ, R4529 (Client Report). SCH9073.

A level II building survey was undertaken in 2021 for 80, Townfield Lane, Barnton, Northwich, CW8 4LJ, prior to its demolition and the erection of replacement dwellings.

Townfield Lane, as the name implies was the main access to the higher and lower town fields, open fields where many of Barnton’s farmers cultivated strips of land.

The building is typical of a late 19th Century dwelling. The detailing to the front façade suggests that the building was prominent when first built and based on the historical mapping provided a design basis for later local development. The building has undergone some renovations and alterations but stays significantly in its original form, scale and massing. The fundamental design of the building has contributed to its dilapidation and consequently is no longer fit for purpose in terms of structural integrity.
