In 2020, a site walkover was undertaken on land to the west of Delph Lane, Daresbury, prior to proposed development, to try to identify any upstanding features and the potential location of a holy well. The 1844 Tithe Map records two fields called Holywell Field and Big Holywell Field in this location.
The brook that runs north-south, along the western boundary of the site, is said to run along a natural fissure in the bedrock. At the junction of Big Holywell Field, Holywell Field and Old Field the brook takes a dramatic drop, where the brook then flows along the deep fissure. In landscape terms this is a potential place for the holy well to have existed. On inspection of the drop, several large worked sandstone blocks were noted, which may represent an earlier structure in place. A modern drain has been added at this location, surrounded by infill
