Monument record 7869/5/1 - Colliery Tramway at Bank Farm

This map depicts a tramway (labelled as a railway) running between coal pits and a coal wharf at The Bank.

The tramway is not depicted.

The southern part of the tramway seems to have been re-used as a track or lane by the late 1880s.

The location of the tramway, as depicted by Bryant (see 1) is difficult as few features are discernible on later historic maps (see 2 and 3). Through comparison on features on Bryant’s map and later maps, as rough georectification of the former was accomplished allowing the approximate course of the tramway to be digitised.
