This map depicts a regular narrow water filled linear depression with rounded ends at this location. It is c.66 metres long, c.17 metres wide and aligned north-east to south-west.
<2> Ordnance Survey, 1896-1898, Ordnance Survey First Revision County Series (Epoch 2) 25 inch to 1 mile - Cheshire, SJ8658, 1899 (Maps and Plans). SCH3848.
Labelled as a gravel pit.
<3> Various, Various, Oral communication to the HER, Edwards R, 26/02/2021 (Oral Communication). SCH2330.
It is unlikely that this is a gravel pit, given it's location and morphology. It is possibly associated in some way with the lime works to the north-west. It survives as an earthwork.
